Backing up your stuff via iTunes is very easy and doesn?t take a lot of work. But there are quite a few options for Windows users, other than just iTunes. CopyTrans is an excellent freeware which doubles as an iTunes replacement with a neat user interface. We previously covered an article on how to transfer your iTunes content to a different computer using the popular freeware CopyTrans (Tuneswift) and how to remove duplicate songs from iTunes using CopyTrans.
Thanks to a recent update by the folks at WindSolutions, CopyTrans can now do a lot more than just backing up your music and videos. It can now back up/transfer apps as well, which was a long awaited feature.
The process is very simple. Lets see how it works.
Using CopyTrans to Backup Apps
Step 1: Download and install CopyTrans Suite.
Step 2: Open CopyTrans Manager from the CopyTrans Control Center.
Step 3: Drag and drop the apps (IPA files) to CopyTrans Manager, the apps will appear in a list as shown in the image below.
Step 4: Press the update button on top for all the changes to be saved to your iOS device.
Voila! You have installed an app onto your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad without using iTunes. Well, I found that CopyTrans Manager was very easy and convenient to transfer IPA files. It works like a charm without any hitches (yet).
This freeware is highly recommended if you don?t like the iTunes interface. CopyTrans is only available for Windows machines as of now. Do you have any other alternatives in mind? Let us know by dropping a comment below.
